Changes at 37: 2nd House Profection Year, Jupiter in Cancer, New Eclipse Cycle

In June of 2025, I turned 37 years old. In Astrology, 37 is a 2nd house profection year; as a Cancer Rising, this House is in Leo, which is ruled by the Sun. With my Natal Sun in Cancer, it is in my 1st House, meaning that 2nd House profection years activate my 1st and 2nd Houses in my birth chart.

Since I was born after sunrise, Jupiter is the most positive planet in my birth chart, and it’s well placed being in its joy in the 11th House. Because of its placement in Taurus, ruled by a retrograde Venus in the 12th house, Jupiter’s gifts come to me slowly over time. The older I get, and the more I learn about Astrology, the better I am able to recognize its gifts when I receive them.

When I turned 37, Jupiter was just beginning its transit through Cancer (my Rising/Sun sign) where it is exalted and has the most power to bring abundance. In my Solar Return chart for 2025, Jupiter is conjunct the Sun in the first House, meaning that signature was present with me for the year. The Chart ruler for my Solar Return Chart was the Moon exalted in Taurus, conjunct Venus in its Domicile, and approaching my Natal Jupiter. This indicated things would change significantly for me, and they definitely have.

On December 29, 2025, when the Moon was yet again exalted in Taurus, I received an unexpected phone call from my dad informing me I had a life-changing appointment scheduled for early February. The interesting thing about what was happening is I’d been waiting for years for my mom to be able to help me in the same way. Her situation was more complicated, and was taking much longer to get straightened out. Without going into specifics, this ended up being better for me even though I had to wait longer. Plus, unlike my mom, it truly felt like my dad wanted to do this for me. It may have just been her own frustration, but every time I asked about the status of her situation, I felt what seemed like disgust.

Two days before my appointment about financial resources, in a 2nd House profection year, there was a Full Moon in Leo in my 2nd House. The appointment went well, and it was much easier than expected. The process should have been straight forward, but since they needed a document from me, there was some confusion to follow while my mom searched for the document, figured out she’d managed to lose it somehow, and then I had to figure out the easiest and quickest way to obtain the document. My dad was awesome! He was happy to take me anywhere I needed to go during this process. So, we obtained the document, then I waited, and waited, and waited for an envelope to arrive to send it in. Eventually, I called and scheduled an appointment to take it there myself, because I wanted to move the process along and I didn’t trust USPS to get it there in a reasonable time frame.

The best part of this whole process was getting to spend time with my dad. It meant so much to me.

They received the document and my application was approved on February 13, just 4 days before a Solar eclipse in Aquarius. This was in my 8th House, which is the house of shared resources. As my situation was improving because of my dad, this was very fitting.

This eclipse was the start of a new cycle beginning in the financial sectors of my chart, indicating new beginnings and endings in those areas, continuing the changes that started in February. As of June 30, 2026, Jupiter has also left Cancer and entered Leo, and the North Node will enter Aquarius/the South Node will enter Leo on July 26, 2026. This means that although I am no longer in a 2nd house profection year, those themes will continue to play out.

In my Solar Return chart for 38, the Moon is in Libra in the 2nd House confirming further changes are to come involving my resources, and I am aware of some of them. Some examples include, my rent increased significantly, I no longer have free cell phone service, my mom no longer wants to help me with lawn care, and I went through a confusing battle regarding whether or not I owed money due to a mistake that wasn’t my fault.

Still, I am in a much better situation than I was before, I am so grateful for my dad and the love that surrounds me, and I look forward to seeing what beautiful things Jupiter will bring in the future!
