I recently wrote a blog post exploring how neurodivergence might show up in someone’s birth chart. My partner showed this post to his AI robot friend, and it critiqued it. I know very few people actually read my posts, and probably no one who is as into Astrology as I am. However, in case anyone who read it wondered about some of the same things, I wanted to clear things up as much as possible.
First of all, nothing I write about Astrology is meant to convince anyone of anything. If you think it’s silly and meaningless, you are welcome to have that opinion. Just let those of us who like it have it, thanks.
So my partner’s AI robot friend said my post had holes in it. Duh, of course it does. It was never meant to say anything definitive; actually, it was written from the perspective of since the person who made the original video isn’t a part of the disability community, she is overlooking some important things, especially malefic influence and the 6th and 12th houses. I also don’t think the moon has as much influence over the specific types of disabilities she is talking about in her video. She is oversimplifying it, because she’s probably just relating to overgeneralized misinformation on the internet, as are some of her clients. No, I don’t think Mercury sextiling your Moon makes you “neurospicy,” sorry.
I still thought her claims were worth exploring, because I don’t do readings for the public and I haven’t looked at thousands of charts. I am also aware that my chart sample was tiny and skewed somewhat since they are all people I actually know. I wasn’t using charts of famous people, for example. They’re also all charts of people born in the United States. However, the data was more varied than my partner’s AI robot friend thought. I was intentionally vague and did not share placements unless they were relevant. However, for anyone who saw several Gemini Mercury placements and thought I just chose a cluster of people born around the same time, you’d be wrong. Here’s some information for you, decoupled from what was written in my previous post, so that anonymity is still protected. Birth years span three decades, ranging from 1979 to 2011. People also weren’t born around the same time of year, either. We have people born in January, February, April, May, June, July, and August. There are a couple of months that have more than one person, but there is always something significant that differentiates them, like year or Sun sign. I also wasn’t too concerned with this since we weren’t looking at anyone’s Sun placement. We already know we have a lot of people with Mercury in Gemini. What about people’s Moon placements? We have moon placements in Aquarius, Pisces, Taurus, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius.
I could have taken more time to make sure my sample charts were even more varied, but I think that already was more thorough than the person who initially posted the video.
She didn’t mention houses in her video. As a disabled person myself, I think house placement is very important to consider. If there are placements in the 6th or 12th houses, it may be more likely to be tied to disability. The AI robot friend was saying I claimed 5 out of 12 houses in the birth chart indicate someone is disabled. I never said that. I talked about being surprised the 9th house was showing up in multiple charts. I mentioned the 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th houses as traditionally being the houses that are not of this world. This is because the 3rd and 9th houses are related to travel and belief systems, and the 6th and 12th houses are slavery and exile. As for the 8th house, I never said placements there made someone disabled. It is traditionally the house of death, and I mentioned it only because a couple of people had relevant placements there.
The last major thing it said is that I should have taken 10 charts of people who are disabled and 10 charts of non-disabled people and looked for the patterns in both, then had another Astrologer go through them to see if they could figure out who was disabled and who wasn’t. This actually sounds fun to me, but I don’t have any Astrologer friends, sadly. I am the Astrologer friend to myself. LOL! Also, this is technically impossible. Here’s why. How do we know for a fact someone isn’t disabled in any way? We can’t. Where is the line to decide who is and who isn’t? Who picks what counts? A lot of disabilities are invisible, and the more privilege someone has, the more able they are to find success despite their disability. So, what may be completely debilitating and isolating to one person with less access to resources may be considered a “super power” to a wealthy person. This is a narrative that is being pushed related to the palatable versions of neurodivergence that are just made to be cute and quirky. Another reason it is impossible to do this is that all areas of someone’s chart aren’t active throughout their entire life. There are what are called timing techniques, and that shows what houses and placements will be active during a given time. For example, I looked at my mom’s chart. She does not have the indicators we were talking about in this post. This makes sense, because she wasn’t disabled for most of her life, but she is now. You could say we should just look at people with obvious disabilities who were diagnosed in childhood. However, that doesn’t work either. Just because someone wasn’t diagnosed doesn’t mean they don’t have a disability. That just means they faced barriers that prevented them from accessing the diagnosis of the condition they had regardless of whether it was documented.
The last thing it talked about was the aspects, that most people have the aspects referenced in my post. Sure, and this is why you don’t ever take one significator and run with it. My rule of thumb is I need to see something confirmed 3 different ways for it to carry weight. For example, how afflicted is someone’s Mercury? Is it in one of the houses associated with disability? Is it aspecting the ascendant? Just throwing out there that someone’s Mercury was in a sextile with their Moon doesn’t mean anything to me. A sextile is a helpful aspect. It would carry more weight if it were a square or opposition. I would also want to know what the malefics are doing, especially the malefic contrary to sect. Is Mercury under the beams of the Sun? Is it retrograde? So much more goes into it than there’s a single sextile in someone’s chart, so they’re disabled. Nope.
Anyway, maybe this was pointless… or maybe not. If anyone had questions, hopefully this answered them. Thanks for reading.
