My partner, Izzie G, recently released a new single: Communicate featuring his friend Myla, who has a beautiful, soulful voice and is a talented writer. I instantly fell in love with the song when I heard it, and wanted it to reach as many people as possible. So, I used Electional Astrology to pick the release date.
This isn’t that unusual. Many artists either intentionally use Astrology to launch new projects or their most successful releases coincide with positive Astrological transits. For example, I suspect the singer Kehlani used Electional Astrology to release the single Folded in 2025. It was released on a Wednesday when new music usually drops on Fridays, and later in the day instead of at midnight. I will never forget this, because I had a dentist appointment that day and I wasn’t able to listen to the song when I searched for it at 6:00 AM. The Astrology worked; Folded has become a huge hit.
In Astrology, the two most positive planets are Venus and Jupiter; the two most challenging planets are Mars and Saturn. So, a good Electional Astrology chart features positive aspects from Venus or Jupiter and minimal influence from Mars and Saturn, unless timing dictates one of them be the chart ruler (a rising sign in Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn, or Aquarius).
Jupiter has been in Cancer since June of 2025, where it is exalted and can do the most good. Venus, the other benefic met up with Jupiter in Cancer in June. This was also during a short lull in all the chaotic Astrological transits we’ve been experiencing, so it was the perfect time to launch something new into the world.
The exact Jupiter-Venus conjunction in Cancer was on June 9th, but since the moon, which had moved into Aries, was not doing as well that day, June 8th (with the moon in Pisces) was the better choice.
Although most platforms didn’t respect this choice, we actually chose a time for the release as well; we picked 7:30 AM our time.
The song’s Astrology chart has a Cancer rising with the moon in the 9th house conjunct the Midheaven in Pisces. The rising sign represents the song itself, the chart ruler and midheaven represent how far the song can go and how it is received. The Moon in Pisces (Jupiter’s sign) and Jupiter in Cancer ruled by the Moon) are in a mutual reception, which means in addition to both being well-placed, they are in flowing energy with each other.
The Venus-Jupiter conjunction is in the 1st house along with the ascendant and Mercury. I considered placing this conjunction in the 10th house of career/public reputation, but decided against it. Based on the reception of the song, it seems this was the correct decision.
It felt like the Venus-Jupiter conjunction, with Venus representing love and Jupiter bringing good luck and abundance belonged in the 1st house in a song about communicating with a partner. This is further emphasized with Mercury in its joy, the 1st house) and being the planet that represents communication.
The malefics, Mars and Saturn, must fall somewhere in every chart. This means they will influence some aspect and all you can do is attempt to mitigate the harm based on the project you’re working on. In the case of this chart, Mars is in Taurus in the 11th house and Saturn is in Aries in the 10th house.
Mars being in the 11th house of friends, groups, networks could be problematic if people are jealous. Luckily, there seems to be very little of that. For the most part, Communicate has been very well received.
As for Saturn in the 10th house in Aries, squaring Mercury in the 1st house in Cancer, it actually exemplifies the struggle being described in the song very well. First of all, a square in Astrology is a challenging aspect, meaning there is a struggle. Mercury represents communication and it is in the 1st house representing the song itself as well as the person who wants their partner to communicate with them. Saturn is limitations, boundaries and it’s in the 10th house of career. The reason they’re not communicating is because they’re working so hard that they’re neglecting their partner. In addition, Saturn rules Capricorn, which is the 7th house in this chart, the house that represents the other person in committed relationships. So you have an emotional, sensitive Cancer feeling neglected by their hard working Capricorn partner. It’s all so fitting!
